Welcome to Week 16, Email Lists Part 1
This week we are diving into part one of a three-part series on email lists. While we will do our best to provide as much detail as possible, the intention is to give you an example of how you could set up and use email lists in your practice.
What is an email list and why should I use it?
Simply put an email list is all of your client and prospect emails conveniently set up in one tool. The mailing list tool allows you to label each contact and send them either a one-time email or a series of emails that is specific to them.
While setting up your mailing list system can be a little time-consuming at first, it will save you a lot of time and effort in the long run. Time and time again, email proves to be one of the most cost-effective marketing tools for businesses of all sizes.
Mailing list tools are not only convenient, but they can help add a touch of professionalism and aesthetics to your communication with your audience. A beautifully presented email that is relevant to the reader can go a very long way in promoting your business.
Email series examples
Prospects
When visitors sign up on your website to learn more about your services, they receive an automated series of emails designed to introduce NES.
Once the initial introduction series is complete, you can offer a special discount on a first session, invite them to discover the benefits of feelgood infoceuticals, or share your website with someone they know who may benefit from your services.
No more writing the same introductory email over and over again. Your initial email response can include a video, links to articles, or simply easy-to-understand information you want your prospect to understand before they reach out for a session.
Clients
Why not put together a series of emails that dive deeper into each portion of the scan to be sent out to clients after their initial scan review? This allows you to spend more time focussing on your client's specific needs rather than going over more general information about each screen.
Emails can be sent out daily, weekly, or at the frequency of your choosing, these types of emails are called “drip campaigns”.
Single emails
In addition to drip campaigns, you can use your mailing tool to send a one-time email to a specific part of your list.
Examples:
Inform all your prospects of a special you are offering on a first scan.
Dates you will be away during the summer.
New services you are offering.
Special package offers for those interested in buying a MiHealth.
The more detailed you are as you label or group your contacts in your mailing list tool the more specific you can be with your emails. You could for example have special offers or series designed specifically for women.
Choosing the right tool
There are quite a few options when it comes to mailing list tools. To choose the right tool you will first want to ask yourself a few questions.
Does my website host/service already offer a mailing list option?
If I use a hosted solution what services does my website integrate with?
For this series, we are going to use MailerLite to demonstrate how to set up and use a mailing list tool. Your chosen tool may have different functions or segment subscribers differently but the overall logic will be the same.
MailerLite offers a free plan (for up to 1000 contacts) that is perfect for most practices and consistently ranks highest in email deliverability according to an ongoing series of tests performed by EmailToolTester. They are more strict than other companies and have refused legitimate businesses in the past.
Another excellent and very easy-to-use option is EmailOctopus they have a very affordable monthly plan and integrate with many website platforms using Zapier.
No need to be overly concerned if your chosen Mailing List Tool is lower on EmailToolTester list as you will most likely be emailing a smaller list of existing clients who know you and want to receive your emails.
Homework for next week
Your homework for next week (if you would like to get started) is to sign up with the mailing list service of your choice or get acquainted with the mailing service that comes with your website. Most providers have free trials or free plans that are perfect to start.
If you are signing up with a third-party mailing list manager, make sure to follow all of the account setup steps including your account activation and verification.
If you own your domain you will be asked to add some snippets of code to your domain DNS entries. If this seems too complicated, ask the company you purchased your domain name from for assistance. A good Google search will also go a long way in helping you get through the account activation and verification.
Your mailing list company has its customer service. Feel free to reach out to them or read their help articles. The more familiar you are with your mailing list tool the more you will get out of it.
Wrapping Up!
Using a mailing list tool to communicate with your clients and prospects is a wonderful way to save time, establish trust with your audience, and increase sales. As I mentioned at the beginning of this email, setting up your system is a little time-consuming, however, the payoff in the long run is well worth it.
