Understanding how to manage Bluetooth connectivity on your GEM device is essential for optimal usage. This article provides guidance on turning Bluetooth on and off, explains the importance of maintaining Bluetooth connectivity, and addresses common connectivity issues.
Turning Bluetooth On and Off
Turning Bluetooth on is very simple and can be done with a 1 second press of the GEM button. This short press will be followed by specific light combinations indicating the Bluetooth status:
- Blue + Red Light: This indicates that Bluetooth is now OFF.
- Blue + Green Light: This indicates that Bluetooth is now ON.
Do You Need to Keep Bluetooth On?
-
No — your GEM works even when Bluetooth is off. It continues taking pulse readings and running its automatic 24-hour Protect program.
Turn Bluetooth on when you want to sync your data, view updated scores, or run a Correct program.
Tip: Many users prefer turning Bluetooth off overnight and back on in the morning — it’s not required, but it’s a simple way to reduce device connectivity while you sleep.
- Please note: If you turn off Bluetooth on your device, new readings will not appear in the GEM App. The device will continue taking readings for up to a day and will sync the data once Bluetooth is reactivated, though this may take some time. The default 24-hour cycles will still run, but on-demand corrections or personalization based on your readings will not be available.
Understanding the Bluetooth Connection Symbol
If you notice the Bluetooth connection symbol on your app is yellow, this indicates your GEM device is not currently connected to your mobile device.
To resolve this, ensure that:
- Your GEM is fully charged.
- The GEM device is close to the mobile device.
- Bluetooth is activated on both the GEM and your mobile device.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure your GEM device operates effectively and maintains a stable connection for the best user experience. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
